9th and JV PLayers

Players on the 9th and JV baseball rosters have a mandatory meeting Friday, May 20, at 2:15 and will utilize the gym for a combined practice from 2:15-3:30 if the Field House is available. If the Field House is not available, a twenty minute meeting will take place.

Season Update

At the midpoint in the season, the Holliston baseball team stands at 5 wins and 5 losses. Since the last post game results are below:

Holliston 2 Dover-Sherborn 3 (Ben Levine 5 innings - 2 runs and 4 hits; Jonathan Rossini 3 hits)

Holliston 9 Medway 7 (Sean Mayo 2 hits, 3 runs, 2RBI; Jake Frechette 2 hits)

Holliston 3 Bellingham 9 (Sean Mayo 2 hits, Cato LaCroix 2 RBI homerun)

Holliston 12 Millis 5 (Grant Davis - complete game win; Jake Frechette 2 hits, 4 runs; Jonathan Rossini 2 hits, 3 runs; Stephen Hennessey 2 hit, 5 RBIs)

The team next plays Monday night at Adams Field in Holliston Monday at 6:45PM.

Please note that the game in Holliston next Wednesday has a start time of 4:30 due to Advanced Placement Exams

Holliston 3 Norton 5



The Holliston Panther baseball team fell to Norton 5-3 yesterday. Grant Davis pitched 5 2/3 innings scaterring nine singles. Jake Frechette, Dave Conners and Jake DeMuro collected Holliston's hits. The team played excellent defense. Holliston hosts Dover-Sherborn on Wednesday at 3:45.

Cooperstown 2011

Although the game versus Sharon on Doubleday Field in Cooperstown was snowed out, the Holliston baseball team was able to visit the Baseball Hall-of-Fame. The game versus Sharon will be made up in May at Sharon High School.

Holliston 3 Medfield 5

Medfield stayed atop the Tri-Valley League with a 5-3 victory last Friday versus the Holliston Panthers. Medfield led 2-0 through five innings when Holliston scored three runs to take the lead. Medfield scored three runs of their own for the comeback victory. Ben Levine pitched three scoreless innings. Tommy Dewar and Jonathan Rossini led the offense for Holliston. Tommy had three hits and Jonathan chipped in with two. The Holliston team travels to Cooperstown, New York to play a non-league game versus Sharon High School on Doubleday Field and to visit the National Baseball Hall-of-Fame. The trip is scheduled for April 20-21. When they return they get back to playing games in the TVL playing Norton, Dover-Sherborn and Medway.

Holliston 0 Hopkinton 8

The Hopkinton Hillers played a terrific game blanking the Panther baseball team 8-0 on Thursday. Tim Moberg of Hopkinton pitched a no-hitter. The loss drops the Holliston Panthers to 3-1 (2-1 TVL). Holliston hopes to regain positive play on Friday in Medfield at 3:45.

Hopkinton Games Postponed and Wednesday Practices

The 9th, JV and Varsity baseball games have been postponed until Thursday. The varsity will be at Holliston High School. The JV will travel to Hopkinton and play on a different field than originally scheduled. The JV game will be on Field #5 in Hopkinton. Field #5 is below the football field between the football and varsity softball field. The 9th grade game has been moved to Holliston at Adams Field. All three games begin at 3:45. Since our towns border it would not be surprising if the games got going closer to 3:30 if the umpires arrive early.

Holliston 12 Westwood 6











Dave Conners, Cato LaCroix and Jake Frechette led the Holliston Panthers offensive attack Monday versus Westwood as the Holliston Panther Baseball Team collected 12 hits and 12 runs. Ben Levine entered the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with the score tied 6-6. Ben efficiently pitched the final four frames giving up no runs and facing just 16 batters. The Team is off to a 3-0 start and is scheduled to play Hopkinton and Medfield to round out the second week of the season.

Holliston 13 Millis 3



Holliston High School won their second game of the season 13-3 versus Millis High School last Friday. Jake Frechette led the offensive attack hitting three homeruns and collecting seven RBIs. Cato LaCroix and Ethan Huntley combined efforts on the mound.

Holliston vs. Sharon - April 6

Holliston opened the 2011 Season with a 11-3 victory at home versus Sharon High School. Grant Davis and Ben Levine combined pitching efforts to earn the victory. Tommy Dewar and Brody Ciarcello played well offensively. Sharon jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first. Holliston then answered taking a 3-1 lead prior to Millis knotting the game in the next half inning. Holliston then scored eight runs in the 4th and 5th innings enroute to the final. Holliston plays Millis at home on Friday, April 8 at 3:45.

2011 and 2012 Bat Restrictions

The following describes the official position of the Massachusetts Baseball Coaches Association (MBCA) regarding baseball bats for the 2011 and 2012 seasons:

The MIAA Board of Directors voted to follow the baseball bat standards established by the NFHS Baseball Rules Committee. "Effective beginning the 2010-11 school year, composite bats shall be illegal until meeting the standards of 1-3-2(e)." A list of composite bats that are approved by the NFHS for the 2011 season (as of December 1, 2010), can be found here:

NFHS Rule 1-3-2(d) Through December 31, 2011, each aluminum bat shall meet the Ball Exit-Speed Ratio (BESR) performance standard, and such bats shall be labeled with a silkscreen or other permanent certification mark. NoBESR label, sticker or decal will be accepted on any non-wood bat.

NFHS Rule 1-3-2(e) Beginning January 1, 2012, all bats not made of a single piece of wood shall meet the Batted Ball Coefficient of Restitution (BBCOR) performance standard, and such bats shall be labeled with a silkscreen or other permanent certification mark. The certification mark shall be rectangular, a minimum of a half-inch on each side and located on the barrel of the bat in any contrasting color. Aluminum and composite bats shall be labeled as approved tamper evident, and be marked as to being aluminum or composite. This marking shall be silkscreen or other permanent certification mark, a minimum of one-half-inch on each side and located on the barrel of the bat in any contrasting color.
